One of the best passes near Andermatt and the scene of the DB5 / Mustang chase in Goldfinger the Furka Pass was the best part of the day. It’s tight, very twisty and every time I’ve done it (three times now) the view at the top has been the same – low cloud and snow. It’s over 2400m and one of the higher passes so I guess this is not uncommon. However the road is fun and the views on the way up and down are fantastic – as are the drops.
Unfortunately it was on our schedule at lunchtime and so it ended up being a slow climb behind a coach and a slow descent behind a couple of mobile homes.. there is always a smattering of English sports cars (today this included a TVR Tuscan) and far too many motorbikes and lycra clad cyclists.
